About me

Hi! My Name is Hossam Gamea.

As a product manager with 5+ years of experience, I've honed my skills in developing, designing, and launching a wide range of successful products.

My unique perspective from over 8 years of work in the non-profit and social impact sector has given me a deep understanding of stakeholder management, empathy, and creative problem-solving.

I believe that great products come from a deep understanding of user needs, and I'm passionate about creating inclusive, user-centric solutions that make a real impact.

Beyond Product Management

I was raised in New York City (yes being a New Yorker is a personality trait). Throughout my life I’ve been passionate about helping people overcome insurmountable difficulties, whether that be in product as a PM, government policy as an advocate, or my day to day as a husband and uncle.

I’m a huge movie buff (ask me what the most overrated movie of all time is), I love spending time with my nephews, and I’m currently obsessed with interior design, because chairs are cool.

Currently, I spend my time cooking technically difficult food (I make my own hollandaise by hand, my forearms hate me).

My Process

The Building blocks

  • I use a comprehensive process to product development that begins with thorough information-gathering. This involves identifying stakeholders, crafting user personas, and developing a product roadmap aligned with user and business needs.

I conduct discovery workshops, user research, competitor research, gather requirements, and analyze data to synthesize the user and business problem I'm solving. This data-driven approach enables me to create products that meet both user and business needs.

  • After gathering enough information to validate assumptions/hypotheses, I move on to ideation. I create a product roadmap, consolidate requirements into potential features, prioritize features, and consult with the technical team on feasibility.

I also develop wireframes, user journeys, flow charts, and lo-fidelity MVPs to visualize the product.

During this phase, I define the KPIs to track product success.

  • In the design phase, I collaborate with engineers, designers, and stakeholders to create high fidelity mockups and prototypes while refining user stories and feature sets. My priority is to ensure alignment on design goals, user journey, and business requirements.

Engineers and stakeholders are involved to ensure technical feasibility and endorsement, and to iterate designs as necessary.

  • Iteration is key towards building an MLP (Minimum Lovable Product). Upon gaining a high-level understanding and support from business and technical stakeholders on the designs that we’ve began building out. I emphasize on weekly to bi-weekly iteration of designs and requirements based on testing designs with users and relevant stakeholders.

  • During final design, I translate the product roadmap into a project plan and sprint schedule. I work with senior engineers to define tasks and responsibilities and establish a weekly cadence.

Tasks and responsibilities are formalized into a ticketing process with QA documentation and sprint cycles outlined. This formalizes development and ensures that engineers have the necessary details and documentation to achieve success.

  • Throughout development and after product release, I collaborate closely with engineers and designers to prioritize backlog items, including stories, bugs, and new features.

To optimize the product, I continually stay in tune with users, iterate based on data and KPI monitoring, and manage the workload of my teams.
